The Corpus Christi plant is expected to begin production in 2016 and will be the largest vertically integrated single line in the world and the largest PTA plant in the Americas.

M&G Chemicals is a subsidiary of the Mossi Ghisolfi Group that was established in 1953 in Italy and is among the world’s three largest producers of PET for packaging applications. PET, or polyethylene terephthalate, is a plastic polymer resin used to manufacture plastic bottles and for other packaging applications for the beverage food and personal care industries.

Pictured: M&G Chemicals is strategically located in Port Corpus Christi with proximity to railroads, highways and the Gulf of Mexico. The plant, on a 410-acre property along the port’s north bank of the Inner Harbor, is also situated within a couple of miles from plenty of refineries that produce feedstock needed to manufacture PET and PTA.

  • Some prior supervisory experience is preferred, but we will also consider candidates with the ability to motivate / train people and facilitate processes.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, as the Purchasing Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects related to the successful operation of our store room. You will be involved with everything from ordering supplies and restocking key materials to sending items out for repair and rotating inventory.

Another key function of the role will be to ensure we are constantly obtaining the best prices, so you will send out bids and work with vendors in order to keep our costs for materials and supplies down. In terms of services, you’ll also partner with our external contractors as you make sure all of the appropriate paperwork is filled out, signed and on file. 

We are in the process of construction, and we anticipate that the plant will be ready sometime during the first quarter of 2016. Initially, while construction continues, you will play an integral role in helping to create the store room from the ground floor. We will essentially give you an empty room, and it will be your job to order everything needed to set up a store room--from the shelving that items sit on to the actual materials and supplies that will be housed there.  Once fully stocked, the store room will contain everything needed for the daily performance of the plant: nuts, bolts, bearings, seals, tools, gloves--you name it. It will also be the place employees go to for pens, ink cartridges and other office supplies. 

In conjunction with leadership and HR, you will also be very involved in the selection of the Store Room Attendant, who will serve as your direct report.
